Xanthorrhoea australis Grass Tree ‘E’ Range
Xanthorrhoea australis is a unique, architectural, very slow-growing (about 1cm of trunk per year) plant which can take centuries to reach full maturity. These are very long-lived plants with a black trunk and fine grass-like arching foliage. Xanthorrhoea australis Grass Tree will occasionally produce a long flower spike which can reach up to 2 metres in length. Small white flowers appear along the stalk in spring and summer. Flowers are bee and bird attracting. Best used in native gardens, general landscaping, rockeries, pots, mass planting or as a feature plant, on embankments. Xanthorrhoea australis Grass Tree have very sensitive roots when repotting make sure the root ball is left undisturbed. If replanting into a pot make sure to use Australian Native Potting Mix. Avoid planting into waterlogged areas, they require well-draining soils. Xanthorrhoea australis has very low water requirements, avoid overwatering by hand.

Planting Tips:
When planting Australian natives they don’t require too much work to get them settled. Fertiliser Australian native plants in the prime growing seasons, Spring and early Autumn for the best results. However, make sure to use the right food. Almost all natives dislike soils and food with high phosphorus levels, therefore when fertilising these plants make sure to use a fertiliser made especially for them with phosphorus (P) level of 3% or less.
If planting into a pot make sure that the container chosen is large enough for the plant being planted. Never pot a plant into a container which is too small. Make sure to use a premium quality Australian Native Potting Mix as this has the correct balance of wetting agents and nutrients required for having a healthy plant.
