A medium, semi-weeping deciduous tree which needs another variety of Chestnut for cross-pollination. Chestnut April Gold produces deep green narrow-long leaves which change colour in autumn, the foliage will drop leaving branches bare in winter. Chestnut April Gold produces medium-large fruit which is encased in burr-cover. Once the fruit falls from the tree they are ready to be harvested. Fruits are ideal for eating, roasting or cooking. Chestnut April Gold grows best in humus-rich soil which is well-draining.
