Pyrus calleryana ‘Capital Pear’
Pyrus ‘Capital Pear’ is a beautiful slender tree with fresh green foliage and a spectacular floral display of white flowers in early Spring. In Autumn, the foliage changes to shades of rich red and orange before dropping in Winter. Pyrus Capital Pear makes a great feature tree or hedge where space is limited. When planting, use good quality compost mixed with the existing soil. Water well in the first spring and summer and fertilise twice a year with an all-purpose fertiliser. Pyrus Capital Pear has moderate water requirements and will benefit from deep soaking throughout the summer months.

Planting Tips:
Make sure to prepare the soil before planting. Mixing in a bag of well-aged animal manure or compost can help to condition and revitalise tired soil. Make sure to blend compost/manure with the pre-existing ground, mixing thoroughly. Once the ground has been prepare, dig a hole which is wider, but not deeper, than what the original size of the pot the plant has come in. Position the plant in the hole and backfill any gaps with the excess soil. Give the plant a deep soaking of water to help settle the roots.
The container selected needs to be large enough for the plant chosen. Never pot a plant into a container which is too small. Use a premium quality potting mix as this has all the added fertilisers and wetting agents required for having a healthy plant.
