Chicory – Punnet
Great flavour, easy to grow. Chicory is a fast-growing vegetable which is very popular in Italian cuisine. The foliage can be used to flavour salads or sauteed. The foliage has a slight bitter flavour. The roots can be dried, ground and roasted as a coffee substitute as a caffeine-free option. Harvest 8-10 weeks from planting.

Planting Tips
Garden Beds: Make sure to prepare the soil prior to planting. Mixing in a bag of well-aged animal manure or compost can help to condition and revitalise tired soils. Make sure to blend compost/manures with the pre-existing soil. Once the soil has been prepare, dig a hole which is wider, but not deeper, than the original size of the pot the plant has come in. Position the plant in the hole and backfill any gaps with the excess soil. Give the plant a deep soaking of water to help settle the roots.
Container Gardens: Make sure that the container chosen is large enough for the plant selected. Never pot a plant into a container which is too small. Use a premium quality potting mix as this has all the added fertilisers and wetting agents required for having a healthy plant. Make a hole which is wider but not deeper than the original size of the pot the plant has come in. Position the plant in the hole and backfill any gaps with the excess soil. Water the plant in to settle the roots.
