Red Russian has dark grey leaves with red stems, growing 50 to 70cm tall. It is more tender and flavoursome than other kales.
Kale prefers a rich, well drained fertile soil. Even and constant watering is essential. It is very tolerant to frost, but will become bitter during hot weather. It is a very rich source of calcium, iron, vitamins A and C. Can be lightly cooked or used as a salad.
