Pogonatherum paniceum ‘Baby Panda Grass’ – 14cm pot

This is a compact, dense bushy small grass like-bamboo with vibrant green foliage. Very versatile plant as it can be grown in many different garden situations and can tolerate a light frost. Prefers to be grown in moist but well-draining soil. Moderate water requirements once established in the garden, best to give the plant deep soaking in the peak of summer to keep the plant healthy. Applying a layer of mulch around the base of the plant will assist in retaining moisture during dry spells.

Planting Tips:
Make sure to prepare the soil prior to planting. Mixing in a bag of well-aged animal manure or compost can help to conditions and revitalise tired soil. Make sure to blend with pre-existing soil, mixing together thoroughly. Once the soil has been prepare, dig a hole which is wider, but not deeper, than what the original size of the pot the plant has come in. Position the plant in the hole and backfill any gaps with the excess soil. Give the plant a deep soaking of water to help settle the roots.

If planting into a pot make sure that the container chosen is large enough for the plant being planted. Never pot a plant into a container which is too small. Use a premium quality potting mix as this has all the added fertilisers and wetting agents required for having a healthy plant.
