Magnolia grandiflora ‘Little Gem’ – 25cm pot

A beautiful compact upright evergreen tree. Magnolia Little Gem produces large white fragrant blooms in Spring and Summer. The foliage is dark glossy green with an attractive velvet-like brown underside. Great for adding contrast and texture into your garden design. Magnolia Little Gem grows best in humus-rich, free-draining soil in all day sun. They have moderate watering requirements until they establish in the garden. The plant will benefit from occasional watering during dry weather.

Planting Tips:
Prepare the soil before planting. Mixing in a bag of well-aged animal manure or compost will help to condition and revitalise tired soils. If adding organic matter to your soil, make sure to blend the compost or animal manure with pre-existing soil, mixing/digging it together thoroughly. Dig a wider hole, but not deeper, than the pot’s original size has come in. Position the plant in the hole, backfill any gaps with the excess soil. Do not bury the graft of the plant. Give the plant a deep soaking of water to help settle the roots.

Suppose planting into a pot. The container chosen is large enough to accommodate the plant being planted. Never pot a plant into a container that is too small. Use a premium quality potting mix as this has all the added fertilisers and wetting agents required for having a healthy plant.
