Ribes sativum ‘White Currant’ – 18cm pot
An upright, medium-sized shrub that has deep multi-lobed emerald green foliage that changes colour in autumn before dropping in winter. White Currant produces large clusters of translucent berries which keep their translucency when ripe. The fruits are very sweet with a slightly sour flavour, these berries are very high in Vitamin C. White Currant berries can be picked and eaten fresh, they are best used for making jams, juice and in cooking. Best grown in humus-rich soil which is free draining. Currants can tolerate cold temperatures and thrive in areas where the winters have a high chill. They are frost tolerant and can be grown in heavy clay soils. Protect plants from strong winds.
