myrtus ugni
These guavas are an evergreen compact bush. They feature small dark green glossy leaves with the new growth having a slight red tinge. The guava becomes covered in white flowers during summer which are followed by red berries from Summer to Autumn. The fruit is ideally eaten fresh but can also be made into jams and jellies.
Plant Chilean Guava in a position that is protected from strong winds in moist, well drained soil. Full sun is preferred but will grow and fruit in part shade. Feed with a balanced fertiliser high in nitrogen. Prune in early spring to maintain desired size and shape.
