Planting Tips
Direct Sowing: When growing plants from seed make sure to prepare the soil prior to sowing. Mix in a bag of well-aged animal manure or compost with the pre-existing soil. Doing this will condition and revitalise tired soils. Once blended, refer that the seed packet for sowing depth and spacing. Keep soil moist if possible if sowing in peak dry weather conditions.
Indirect Sowing: Seeds can be sown into seedling trays with seed raising mix or grown in peat pots/containers. Refer to seed packaging for planting depths. Keep the soil or peat moist, never let the soil dry out. Once seeds have germinated grow them on for a further 2-3 weeks, depending on weather conditions before planting out into the garden.
