A popular cooking variety that produces medium to large brown onions with a mild flavour.
They will mature in approx. 18 weeks from sowing and may be lifted and stored in a cool dry area when tops dry off. A good keeper. Select a site in an open sunny position and prepare the soil by digging in well rotted manure and/or compost and top dressing with lime. Before sowing seed or transplanting seedlings apply a complete fertiliser and rake it in. This preparation should ensure minimal additional fertilising will be required. Fertilisers high in nitrogen must be avoided. Regular cultivation to control weed is essential and it will be necessary to hand weed between plants in the rows.
