Canna Tropicanna is a striking, tropical foliage plant with large leaves striped in red, green, gold and pink. Tall flower spikes emerge in summer topped with bright orange flowers. The blooms can be used for cut flower arrangements. Best grown in full sun in the garden in humus-rich, free-draining friable soil. Canna Tropicanna provides striking contrast in a range of situations, from tropical and cottage gardens through to pots and will tolerate a range of soil conditions. In late autumn to early winter, cut the plant back almost to the ground to ensure fresh and vibrant new growth in spring. Fertilise with an all-purpose food in peak growing seasons.

How to plant:
Prior to planting make sure the area in which the plant will be planted has been prepared. If the soil is sandy adding well-aged compost or animal manures to the soil will help condition and improve the structure of the soil. For heavy clay, add compost and clay breakers to the soil as this will make the texture more friable. If planting into pots make sure the container selected is large enough to accommodate the plant that will be planted and the correct potting mix has been chosen. Position the plant into the hole and backfill with soil and gently tap down. Once planted give a deep soaking of water and wait for it to grow.
