Pieris japonica –
A beautiful, elegant shrub. Pieris japonica is upright, low maintenance, medium, evergreen shrub with dark green pointy leaves and bright red new growth in spring. In late winter, trusses of small burgundy flower buds appear followed by white bell-shaped flowers. Best used in Japanese style gardens, mass plantings, border plants, low or tall hedging solution (depending on variety), pots and general landscaping. Pieris japonica grows best in a shaded position in the garden; however, they can be grown successfully in full sun. Requires a moist, fertile, well-draining soil. Pieris japonica has low water requirements once established. Can be pruned to desired size and shape.
