Lagerstroemia Lipan (Crepe Myrtle) is a vase-shaped deciduous tree with upward-facing branches with a rounded upper growth. This low maintenance tree has excellent disease resistance. The foliage is a brilliant green from Spring through Summer. Large clusters of lavender-pink flowers form at the tips of each branch form in Summer. From Autumn, the foliage changes from shades of green to red through to orange. As Lagerstroemia Lipan matures the trunk will display soft pink-orange colours with decorative bark. This Crepe Myrtle is drought tolerant once established, however, the tree will benefit from occasional watering in Summer during periods of high temperature and dry weather.

Prepare the soil before planting. Mixing in a bag of well-aged animal manure or compost can help to condition and revitalise tired soil. Make sure to blend compost/manure with the pre-existing ground, mixing thoroughly. Once the ground has been prepared, dig a wider hole, but not deeper, than the original size of the pot the plant has come in. Position the plant in the hole and backfill any gaps with the excess soil. Give the plant a deep soaking of water to help settle the roots.
The container selected needs to be large enough for the plant chosen. Never pot a plant into a container that is too small. Use a premium quality potting mix as this has all the added fertilisers and wetting agents required for having a healthy plant.
