Finger Lime ‘Rainforest Pearl’ 40cm pot
Highly sought after by restaurants this native bushfood is a must for any keen gardener.
An evergreen tree with small rounded deep green foliage with stems which bare thorns. Pale white-pink flowers appear in Summer which are followed by cylindrical red fruits. Rainforest Pearl fruit will begin to ripen, but not fully on the tree, throughout Autumn. Once picked leave for 5-10 days as the fruit will then fully ripen. The pulp is a red colour with an intensely sweet limey flavour.
All Citrus will take up to 3 years to produce a harvestable crop. It isn’t uncommon in the first 12-18 months for the fruit to form on the tree but be undersize or lacking flavour. In the first 12 months the tree will be establishing its roots into the soil, the second year you should be establishing the framework of the tree and then in the third year, they should begin to crop. Uneven weather conditions can also affect the fruiting times, crops and yield.
