Fig ‘Preston Prolific’ – Freshly Potted*
A large, upright deciduous fruiting tree which is self-fertile. Fig Preston Prolific produces large palmate leaves which change colour in autumn before dropping for winter. Will require annual pruning once the foliage has dropped in winter. This will encourage a stronger framework, airflow through the canopy and better fruit quality. Fig Preston Prolific produces large rounded-conical fruit on short stalks and is green when immature. Fruit develops to a purplish-brown. The flesh is a pale amber colour with a distinctively sweet flavour. Fruit can be used to make jam. This is an ideal tree for large gardens, food gardens or as a feature tree. Best grown in humus-rich soil which is well-draining.
