Gooseberry Captivator
An upright deciduous small growing shrub that is self-fertile. Gooseberry Captivator produces deep green leaves, which changes colour in autumn which drop in winter. Pruning whilst the plant is dormant will encourage a stronger branching framework, airflow through the canopy and better fruit quality. Gooseberry Captivator produces small yellow-green berries which ripen to a red colour on the plant. The fruit is plump, lovely and easy to pick. This is a very reliable fruiting plant that is great for making jam. Gooseberry Captivator grows best in humus-rich soil, which is well-draining.

Planting Tips:
Prepare the soil before planting. Mixing in a bag of well-aged animal manure or compost will help to condition and revitalise tired soils. If adding organic matter to your soil, make sure to blend the compost or animal manure with pre-existing soil, mixing/digging it together thoroughly. Once the soil has been prepared, dig a wider hole, but not deeper, than the pot’s original size has come in. Position the plant in the hole, backfill any gaps with the excess soil. Do not bury the graft of the plant. Give the plant a deep soaking of water to help settle the roots.
Suppose planting into a pot. The container chosen is large enough to accommodate the plant being planted. Never pot a plant into a container that is too small. Use a premium quality potting mix as this has all the added fertilisers and wetting agents required for having a healthy plant.
