An evergreen, bushy, low growing shrub, with dark oval green leaves. During late Spring and Summer, an abundance of cherry-blossom-like flowers covers the plant. Once the flowers have finished fruit will begin to develop. Lemon Guava fruit is rounded, 3-4cm in diameter, with lime green skins which ripen to a rich golden yellow. The flesh is very jelly-like with few seeds and a lemon aroma. Ideal for making jellies, jams and eating fresh. Lemon Guava can be pruned after fruiting to encourage healthy new growth and a neat, compact growth habit. Best used for general landscaping, food gardens, pots or as a filler plant. Low to moderate water requirements once established, however, as the fruit is forming consistent watering will encourage better quality fruit.
