Pomegranate Mollar de Elche is a medium-sized, deciduous, fruiting tree native to Spain. It has slender, oval green foliage which drops in the Winter. From late Summer, orange blooms appear which develop into large fruits. Produces very sweet and juicy fruits, this is a great cropping variety. Fruits can be harvested from March through to mid-May. Very drought tolerant once established in the garden, root establishment can take 12-18 months in most garden situations. They require humus-rich soil which has good drainage, however, they can be grown in a vast range of soil types. Low water requirements once established in the garden. If grown in containers keep well watered over the Summer. A great variety to be grown in colder climates like Victoria as it will still produce an abundance of fruit.
