Eucomis comosa ‘Eucomis Pineapple Lily’ – 3 pack
Eucomis Pineapple Lily is a wonderful, striking bulb which will give you an amazing floral display. The blooms emerge on short stems which appear from the centre of the plant. The leaves are strappy and a rich green. Eucomis Pineapple Lily will take a few years to establish in the garden and are best left undisturbed once planted. The flowers first emerge in Summer and resemble the appearance of pineapple fruit. Blooms are soft apricot, pink and white and can be used for cut flower arrangements as they can last up to 6 weeks! Best grown in full sun to part shade in humus-rich, free-draining friable soil. Plant bulbs just below the soil surface in Winter. Keep plants well-watered throughout the warmer months also applying a layer of mulch around the base of the plant once it has broken dormancy will help to retain more moisture when it is needed. Fertilise with either a bulb feed or an all-purpose food in peak growing seasons. No need for cool-season storage.

How to plant bulbs:
Prior to planting make sure the area in which the bulb will be planted has been prepared. If the soil is sandy adding a few bags of well-aged compost or animal manures to the soil will help condition and improve the structure of the soil. For heavy clay, add compost and clay breakers to the soil as this will make the texture more firable. If planting into pots make sure the container selected is large enough to accommodate the bulb that will be planted and the correct potting mix has been chosen. Once the soil has been prepared, check the planting depth on the back of your bulb packet and dig a hole accordingly.  Position the bulb into the hole with it sitting the correct way up. Backfill the hole with soil and gently tap down. Once planted give the bulb a deep soaking of water and wait for it to grow.
