A striking Summer flowering bulb, the flowers will give you an amazing floral display. The blooms emerge on strong stems which are self-supporting, they are also excellent as a cut flower. Lilium Whistler has wonderful tangerine flowers with a purple-black throat and spotting. Best grown in a sunny position in the garden in humus-rich, free-draining friable soil. Plant bulbs in winter for optimum results. Keep plants well-watered throughout the warmer months, applying a layer of mulch around the base of the plant once it has broken dormancy will help to retain more moisture when it is needed. Fertilise with either a bulb feed or an all-purpose food in peak growing seasons. Liliums may require staking if they are grown in shady positions because they may reach taller heights as a direct result of searching for sunlight. Leave bulbs undisturbed throughout the year, no need for cool-season storage.
