Everbearing Raspberry, Red Raspberry Heritage
Raspberry Heritage is an Autumn fruiting raspberry tree. The long slender canes produce bright green leaves which turn yellow in the Autumn before dropping in Winter. Raspberries are deciduous plants. In late Spring small petite white blossoms appear which develop into large vibrant red, sweet fruit during Summer into Autumn. This is a high cropping variety ideal for food gardens or planted into large containers. Berries can be harvested from March through late April.
Raspberry Heritage will require moderate watering as the berries develop, mulch around the base of the plant in early Spring. Best grown in humus-rich soil in all day sun. Once the plant has gone into its Winter dormancy, canes require pruning. Cut canes back lightly, 1-2 inches, this variety will fruit on the previous season’s growth. Pruning the canes also encourages strong healthy new growth.

Growing Tips:
Raspberries require protection from extreme heat and damaging winds in periods of dry hot weather. These plants also require a cold Winter to encourage fruiting. If grown in humid areas fruit quality and set might be poor.
Planting Tips:
Make sure to prepare the soil prior to planting. Mixing in a bag of well-aged animal manure or compost can help to conditions and revitalise tired soil. Make sure to blend with pre-existing soil, mixing together thoroughly. Once the soil has been prepared, dig a hole which is wider, but not deeper, than what the original size of the pot the plant has come in. Position the plant in the hole and backfill any gaps with the excess soil. Give the plant a deep soaking of water to help settle the roots.
If planting into a pot make sure that the container chosen is large enough for the plant being planted. Never pot a plant into a container which is too small. Use a premium quality potting mix as this has all the added fertilisers and wetting agents required for having a healthy plant.
