Cherry ‘Sir Don’ Dwarf – 25cm Pot
A compact, upright deciduous fruiting tree that is semi self-fertile does produce more fruit with cross-pollination. Cherry Sir Don produces elliptic deep green leaves, which changes colour in autumn. It will require annual pruning in winter, as this will encourage a stronger branching framework, airflow through the canopy and better fruit quality. Cherry Sir Don produces large heart-shaped fruit in clusters on new wood growth. The fruit has a dark red to black skin with sweet, deep red flesh. The fruit is ideal as fresh fruit or for jams and cooking. This is a very reliable fruiting tree that is great for food gardens or as a feature tree. Cherry Morello grows best in humus-rich soil, which is well-draining.

Planting Tips:
Prepare the soil before planting. Mixing in a bag of well-aged animal manure or compost will help to condition and revitalise tired soils. If adding organic matter to your soil, make sure to blend the compost or animal manure with pre-existing soil, mixing/digging it together thoroughly. Once the soil has been prepared, dig a wider hole, but not deeper, than the pot’s original size has come in. Position the plant in the hole, backfill any gaps with the excess soil. Do not bury the graft of the plant. Give the plant a deep soaking of water to help settle the roots.
Suppose planting into a pot. The container chosen is large enough to accommodate the plant being planted. Never pot a plant into a container that is too small. Use a premium quality potting mix as this has all the added fertilisers and wetting agents required for having a healthy plant.
